Wigan +105 over Watford 3-way (Canbet)
Wigan is doing well in the EPL. This should be an easy match at home against a lower opponent.

Well it looks like Wigan doesn't care as much about the Carling Cup to get a win here.

Wigan 0, Watford 0 -1.00

As a side note, I see that Wigan won 3-0 in Extended Playoff Time. Perhaps that is why they settled for the draw in regulation time plus stoppage time. For those who aren't familiar with soccer betting, scoring in extended time that takes place in Cup tournaments is not counted in the bet.

Carling Cup, as with most domestic Cups in Europe, are very difficult to cap since most teams that are playing well (or poorly) in their league will not field a full strength squad for fear of injury. The Carling Cup tournament should not be a time to take favourites but rather, it is a time to capitalize on upsets.

A good example of this is today's match between Birmingham and Norwich. Birmingham are 3rd from bottom in the EPL and will probably not want to risk some of their better players to injury, in this somewhat meaningless tournament, as they fight to climb out of the relegation zone. This presents a nice opportunity for Norwich to pull off a win, and look at the lines available from Olympic.......

NORWICH +415
NORWICH (+1) -140

Another game worth looking at is Grimsby vs. Newcastle. Grimsby have already beaten Tottenham in this competition and Newcastle are sure to field a weakened side in this away match.

GRIMSBY +550
GRIMSBY (+1) -110

I am not saying that these huge underdogs will win but it is certainly worth a shot.

This is a VERY tricky match to predict as both teams are making quite a few changes to their regular line-ups.

Excellent point MM. This is why I did not bet any other games in this competition. I did have a couple leans.

One was the Everton under 2.5 -153 since they have been notorious as not being able to score.

Another one is Man Utd. over 3 since they are playing a much weaker team. You never know when Man Utd. is going to show up though.

A third is Middlesbrough pk and +0.5 over Everton. I can't believe they are getting points over an Everton team that can't score.

Good luck.

Excellent points guys. i need to pick some winners today !

Love the Norwich pick at +440 and the Man Utd over (3). I took the Over 2.5 in the Newcastle game too. I'm gonna throw a small bet on Charlton to upset Chelsea at 7-1.

The only thing I would be weary of is the Newcastle game. Graeme Souness hates to lose. Period. Can't really see him letting his players lose to lowly Grimsby Town. Also do not forget this is the live game on Sky Sports at home.

Good Luck.

Where do you find the lineups for the matches?

Too bad I didn't include these in my record as all 3 hit.

Middlesbrough 1, Everton 0
Man Utd. 4, Barnet 1
